Once a profile was uncovered, it was transferred to a sheet of clear plastic, scanned to a digital file, imported into AutoCAD, scaled up to full size, and traced. The digitized profile was then checked against the original profile and any problems were corrected. After the profile was corrected the recovered historic profile was then given to the carpenters to be milled into the actual chair rail.
