When the Drawing Room chimneypiece and hearth was reassembled it created one of the most accurately reconstructed elements in the restored Montpelier.  By using a combination of original Madison elements and reconstructed features copied directly from architectural ghosts, the restored chimneypiece now stands prominently as one of the main focal points in the restored Drawing Room, just as President Madison had intended.
