Remarkably, similar pockets were found below the cellar windows in the foundation of the wings.  These windows, which only featured a single window sash, operate by lowering down into a masonry pocket instead of the sash moving upward.  Could the sidelights found flanking the main doorway have also once functioned like these cellar windows?
