When the ca. 1901 floor was taken up, the Restoration Team’s hopes turned out to be well placed.  Evidence found under the floor revealed the exact location of the partition as well as shallow mortises in the floor that had once secured the posts that framed the ca. 1812 doorway.  Additionally, just inside the ca. 1812 doorpost mortises, the Team found two additional shallow mortises that were not related to the ca. 1812 doorway.
