The next step in the process was to compare the partial profile found on the fragment to the chair rail profiles found in the ca. 1764 and ca. 1797 portions of the house.  After the comparisons were made, it was found that the fragment matched the base of the profiles found in Mr. Madison’s Room, the Small Bedroom, and the Large Bedroom.  Because all three of these rooms dated to ca. 1797, it confirmed that the chair rail also dated to ca. 1797.  Now that the construction period of the fragment was known, all that was left was to determine the fragment's original location.
