The second source of information was found in the ca. 1764 section of the cellar.  On the north wall of the cellar room, located below the ca. 1764 Parlor, a large patch of rough, uneven plaster was found. Underneath the plaster were more broken bricks similar to the ones found in the Drawing Room. Not surprisingly, these broken bricks were again a sign that bricks had been removed. In this case the rough bricks resulted from the removal of the ca. 1764 chimney base and provided the Restoration Team with the width of the long vanished chimney. In addition to the rough plaster patch the surviving framing in the cellar also proved to be useful. Specifically, the surviving ca. 1764 hearth framing found above the plaster patch allowed the Restoration Team to determine the depth of the chimney stack as well as the size of its hearth.
