During the Investigation it was discovered that in ca. 1797 brick arches were found above the first floor windows while the second floor windows featured wooden lintels.  The reason for the difference relates to the fact that brick relieving arches can support much more weight than wooden lintels and so brick arches were used to support the greater mass of bricks pressing down on the first floor windows.  In contrast, the second story windows had only roughly a foot of masonry above them and so the weaker, but easier to build, wooden lintels were sufficient support.  After the location of the surviving ca. 1797 window supports were identified, the next step was to determine the height and width of the windows.
