Amazingly, during the 2001 investigation it was discovered that all of the windows on the West elevation dated to the Madison-era.  Unfortunately further investigation revealed that the north and south windows had been removed, and apparently discarded, in ca. 1848.  However, it was also found that many of the windows on the eastern elevation, which were initially believed to have been lost in ca. 1901, had actually been reused by the duPonts in their ca. 1901 additions.
