Interestingly, by stating that "walls" were painted, Mrs. Cutts suggests that more than one room featured the wall painting. While no other visitor descriptions of wall paintings at Montpelier were found, a single brick was discovered during the restoration with an intact piece of decoratively painted ca. 1764 plaster on one of its faces. While the wall painting on the fragment appears to be done by the same artist, it appears to be a different pattern than the decorative painting found in the northeastern bedchamber, suggesting that it came from a different room.
