After looking at the other St. Bee's sandstone elements at Montpelier, the Restoration Team became particularly interested in the Dining Room surround. The surround appeared to be similar in design to the damaged fireplace surround in the Drawing Room, but more evidence was needed to conclusively prove that the two were related.
