After first examining the surviving woodwork that surrounded the fireplace in the ca. 1764 Dining Room, which was the second highest social space in the house, the design for the conjectural trim in the Parlor was embellished to make it more complex.  The differences included extending the paneling on the fireplace wall up to the ceiling, including full height pilasters and symmetrical paneling.
