To reconstruct the doorway, the missing ca. 1764 studs were reproduced using recycled timbers from the duPont additions to Montpelier.  After the door opening was framed and the landing reconstructed, water damaged sections of the ca. 1764 doorway were repaired.  The final step was to reinstall the doorframe into its reconstructed ca. 1764 opening.
