When the bill sent to Madison by carpenters James Dinsmore and John Neilson for the work they completed on the Mansion between 1809 and 1812 was reviewed, it was discovered that a pediment had been installed in the Drawing Room.  Because a pediment is found over a door in the Parlor at Monticello, the Investigation Team believed that a similar feature could have been found above the south doorway in the Drawing Room at Montpelier.
