To determine the answer the team asked Monticello’s Restoration Department if they had any additional information on how the pediment at Monticello was constructed.  As it turns out, the pediment was removed in ca. 1950 when the Parlor was undergoing a restoration and a series of documentation photos were taken.  Because Dismore and Neilson also built the Monticello pediment it was hoped that details of the pediment's construction recorded in the photos would help solve the mystery of the masonry pockets at Montpelier.
